Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram has officially announced that it is preparing to launch a verification subscription service dubbed Meta Verified. Mark Zuckerberg unveiled the news on Sunday Morning noting that the service will give users the iconic blue badge with additional protection from impersonation and access to customer support directly.
Mark Zuckerberg notes that “This feature is about increasing authenticity and security across our services.” The subscription will be rolled out in Australia and New Zealand first for testing before reaching other countries. It will cost $15 USD monthly when users choose to subscribe through the app on iOS and Android — the subscription will notably cover both Instagram and Facebook accounts.
